Personal applications

Individuals seeking to sell alcohol by retail in the United Kingdom need a personal licence, there are two types of licence in the U.K. That will allow you to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol. To become a personal licence holder you will need to obtain a reconised training certifcate. In the United Kingdom these certificates of training are know as;
  • England & Wales - National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (NCPLH-level 2)
  • Scotland - Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (SCPLH-level 5)
In Scotland all staff also require a minimum of 2 hours formal training on the Scottish Licensing Act 2005

Once you have achieve your training certificate you can then apply to become a personal licence holder. Personal licence applications should be made to;
 
  • England & Wales - The Licensing Authority in the area where you live
  • Scotland - The Licensing Board in the area where you live
